Photogrammetry
Photographic surveying
Photogrammetric survey:
Specialize in the science of obtaining reliable
spatial information from photographic images. Photogrammetrists analyze aerial
and terrestrial photographs to obtain information about physical objects and
the environment. There are also many uses for non-aerial or close-range photogrammetry.
Remote sensing:
As a
science exploits, in one way or another, the use of the electromagnetic
spectrum to “sense” an object and derive information from it. The field of remote is a relatively young science and covers a very wide
field of scientific methods of extracting information from “remotely” sensed data.
Uses:
- Photogrammetry is used in
preparing topographic maps, advantages include.
- Speed of coverage of an area
- Relatively low cost
- Ease of obtaining topographic
details
- Reduce likely wood of omitting
date due to tremendous amount of detail shown in photographs.
- It is used in land surveying to
compute co-ordinates of section corner etc.
