Definition: It is defined as the
          a) arts & science
          b) to determine the relative position
          c) on the surface of the earth
          d) mapping with suitable scale

Importance: We can not do any structure without surveying.

Classification: Mainly two types are
          1) Plane survey
            a) area ≤ 250 Km²
            b) Earth curvature is not considered
          2) Geodetic survey
            a) area > 250 Km²
            b) Earth curvature is considered

Classification based on instrument: 
           1) Plane table survey
           2) Theodolite survey
           3) Chain survey
           4) Compus survey
           5) Photographic survey/ Photogrammetry
           6) Stadia survey/ Techometric survey
Classification based in purpose: 
           1) Mine survey
           2) Geological survey
           3) Military survey
           4) Archaeological survey
Classification based on work place: 
          1) Land survey
            2) Marin survey
            3) Aerial survey
